Responsibilities
- Transition accounting work performed for Columbia management group.
- Review, analyze, and resolve accounting issues and prepare and post journal entries.
- Perform accounting processes for a variety of transactions in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), internal and external policies, procedures and authorizations.
- Create spreadsheets to support financials.
- Owns and/or reconcile balance sheet accounts and report on the status in the balance sheet.
- Research and clear outstanding reconciling transactions.
- Provide functional advice and training to business partners and less-experienced accountants.
- Participate as a subject matter expert on business projects.
- This position will specialize in accounting for the asset management line of business.
- Develop and implement process improvement initiatives that support the department goals and service levels.
- Prepare aging schedules, calculate bad debt and reserve balances as needed.
Qualifications
- Accounting degree and 3+ years of experience
- Strong understanding of systems, controls, products and processes of the asset management business line.
- Strong written and verbal communication to document tasks, status to ensure no gaps exist.
- Demonstrated ability to develop relationships and transition work with professionalism and tact.
- Strong technical ability using the PeopleSoft general ledger, spreadsheets, access databases and word processing applications.
- Confident, self starter who can represent the accounting team on projects.
- Ability to apply root cause analysis to identify operational and financial issues and proactively apply action steps to resolve
- Demonstrate a sense of urgency and tolerance for stress especially during month end close

Responsibilities
Recovery & Incident Management ¿ This position will be responsible for the management, communication & reporting of advisor compensation recovery issues, as well as, the management, reporting & resolution of batch processing incidents. Position involves working with technology & business partners to drive resolution of compensation & production issues.

Responsibilities also include:
- Ensure compensation issues are managed and resolved in a timely and accurate manner
- Ability to work with business & tech in the analysis of compensation issues & questions
- Drive resolution of production support issues
- Participate in production bridge calls
- Work cross-organizationally, to drive and track DMR¿s (work requests)
- Provide communications and status information for daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly & year-end processing
- Ensure file & processing SLA are met
- Manage business escalated issues
- Provide work direction for technology out tasking vendors
- Oversee process execution and delivery
- Provide thought leadership in the improvement & effectiveness of DMU support.
