Responsibilities
Ameriprise Financial, Inc. seeks a Sr. Financial Analyst ¿ External Reporting to write and update audited financial statements (10K and 10Q¿s) for Securities Exchange Commission (SEC). Analyze information received, identify data issues, and reconcile to PeopleSoft General Ledger System. Complete Department of Labor (DOL) and audited SEC filings for the Company¿s Retirement and 401(k) plans. Review benefits plan descriptions and compile financial statements using Trust and Human resources reports. Complete Schedule H of form 5500 filed with DOL. Compile holding company audited financial statements and necessary schedules conforming to requirements of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Office of Thrift Supervision. Maintain technical liaison to management on proposed and existing GAAP pronouncements.

Provide data analysis such as Earnings release tables and other key business metrics to Ameriprise investor relations and treasury departments. Update Weighted Average Shares to calculate the Earnings per Share amounts. Update calculation with any vesting, forfeitures, and other share activities such as treasury shares buyback, as well as apply any changes to Stock compensation plan. Obtain, review and analyze information from Long Term Incentive Award (LTIA) system, Computershare statements and PeopleSoft General Ledger system. Develop internal controls in accordance with Sarbanes Oxley Act (SOX).

Position requires bachelor¿s degree or foreign equivalent in accounting or related field and 2 years of experience providing public accounting services within audit. Experience must include 2 years in internal controls and GAAP. Demonstrated progress towards obtaining CPA. Qualifications
-Demonstrated ability to complete quantitative analysis using multiple data sources
-Demonstrated knowledge of spreadsheet and/or database creation and manipulation of data and/or structure of same
-Effective communication skills, with ability to verbally present findings to management
-Demonstrated basic knowledge of finance, accounting and analytical skills
-May need knowledge of SOX requirements.
